Who says Miami is expensive? Save your money with these free events this weekend, that include a plethora of holiday activities, the Buskerfest Miami Street Performance Festival, the South Florida Jazz Festival, and a pop-up concert from the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Did I mention they are ALL free?

Free holiday events

‘Tis the season for filling up the December calendar with holiday festivities. Miami On The Cheap (MOTC) has an ongoing “free and cheap Miami holiday events” post that is continuously being updated with a ton of events that include everything from Santa photo opportunities with pets to Christmas tree lightings to caroling choirs and more. This weekend, for example, already has 33 events listed from around South Florida and they include such goodies as the Living Nativity in Miami Shores, Holiday Boat Parade in Palmetto Bay, Miracle at Schenley Park, Santa’s Snowblast in Hialeah and more. Check the MOTC posts for more info.

Free Buskerfest Miami Street Performance Festival

Approximately 40 groups of local musicians, acrobats, comedians and dancers will perform at this festival in various venues throughout downtown Miami, which then culminates with a performance in Bayfront Park. The festival happens on Dec. 9. See the MOTC post for more details.

South Beach Jazz Festival

Not all events at the South Beach Jazz Festival in Miami Beach require a pricey admission ticket. The festival is presenting several free live music performers throughout the day on Dec. 10 at two different stages in Miami Beach. Read the MOTC post for more details.

Free symphony

The Miami Symphony Orchestra kicks off its pop-up concert series in the Miami Design District on Dec. 9. Showcasing music in unusal places, the concert will feature performances that include music from Sibelius, Puccini, Manuel de Falla and many more. Although the concert is free, RSVPs are encouraged. See the MOTC post for more info.
